Celia Owen is a sophomore at Geneva Community High School, in Geneva, Illinois. She has been a part of Geneva's film program, GTV, for two years. Within GTV, Celia had the opportunity to travel across the nation to compete in the Student Television Network (STN) annual convention. Last year, Celia was able to go to Nashville, Tennessee to compete.

While at the 2018 STN Convention, Celia competed in the Tell the Story Editing competition. In this competition, she had three hours to edit a news story together. Celia also competed in the Crazy 8's Daily Show competition, where she and her team had 8 hours to edit a news show (including a commercial, news stories, and anchoring pieces) together. Although she did not place in either competition, she learned a lot and is very excited to travel to Seattle, Washington for the 2019 convention.

Other than STN, Celia competes in the Midwest Media Educators Association (MMEA) Fall Challenges too. Celia had 7 days to create a story that matches the given prompt. In 2018, Celia was able to win first place with her "Shoe Repair" Story.

Besides TV, you can find Celia volunteering with her fellow SADD and Environmental Club members. She also love to travel around the world and explore new things.
